Volunteer Social Media Coordinator

3-5 hours / weekly

Role Purpose
Help shape CBEE Prairies’ digital voice and connect Black entrepreneurs and communities with programs, opportunities, stories, and resources.
Primary Responsibilities
·   Develop a simple monthly content calendar aligned with CBEE programs, events, campaigns, and community priorities.
·   Draft, schedule, and publish clear, engaging content for CBEE’s social platforms.
·   Turn program updates, community stories, resources, and event information into accessible posts.
·   Monitor comments and messages, flag inquiries that require leadership follow-up, and help maintain a respectful online space.
·   Track basic performance measures such as reach, engagement, clicks, and follower growth, and provide a short monthly summary.
·   Coordinate with the Graphic Designer, Outreach Coordinator, Event Coordinator, and CBEE leadership to keep messaging timely and consistent.
·   Maintain organized digital files, captions, approvals, and reusable content assets.
Required Qualifications
·   Strong writing and editing skills with a natural, community-centred tone.
·   Familiarity with major social platforms and scheduling tools.
·   Good judgment, reliability, and attention to detail.
·   Ability to work independently, meet agreed deadlines, and receive feedback.
·   Commitment to equity, respectful storytelling, and responsible representation of Black communities.
Assets
·   Experience managing social media for a nonprofit, community initiative, small business, or student group.
·   Basic knowledge of analytics, short-form video, accessibility practices, or Canva/Adobe tools.
