Pony & Me Adapted Equine Program for Children
The Pony & Me Adapted Equine Program for children with disabilities is an animal-assisted therapy to help children with a variety of disabilities. This type of therapy uses the riding of horses as an effective way of providing physical and emotional therapy as well as psychological benefits to the children with various disabilities including cerebral palsy, spectrum of autism, visual and hearing loss, anxiety disorder, learning disorder and many more. Children will be assisted by volunteers and under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist they will be led in physical exercise as well as interacting with the animals. Adapted equipment is available: Specialized therapy Saddle (Inky Dinky, and adjustable saddle), Rein markers, and Helmets. *Must be 18 or older to volunteer.
