Are you located in Spruce Grove and looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Do you have just a couple of hours to spare each week? You could make a real difference in the life of someone with vision loss by becoming a volunteer companion. We're looking for a caring individual to support a person with sight loss in Spruce Grove who is passionate about staying active and engaged, especially in exciting outdoor activities like dragon boat racing! As a volunteer, you'll be matched one-on-one to offer friendly companionship and practical support, helping someone maintain their confidence, independence, and connection to the world around them. Activities may include: Accompanying them to dragon boat practice and community events Going for walks or nature outings Helping read mail, or printed materials Sharing conversation, music, or audiobooks Running simple errands or any involvement in community activities. Who You Are: Friendly, patient, and empathetic Dependable, with around 2 hours available per week Open to learning about someone’s unique life journey Comfortable in outdoor and team-oriented settings What You’ll Do: Visit weekly at a time that works for both of you Assist with getting to and from dragon boat activities Offer support, encouragement, and companionship Help reduce isolation and enhance participation in community life
