Volunteer From Home: Become a Virtual Companion at CNIB Calgary

1-2 hours / weekly
Min. 6 Months Commitment 
Looking to create meaningful impact in just 1-2 hours a week? The CNIB Virtual Vision Mate position might be for you! CNIB Virtual Vision Mate program is seeking caring and dedicated volunteers across Calgary to support local individuals with sight loss, all from the comfort of your home! 

As a Virtual Vision Mate, you will be matched with an individual who is blind or partially sighted. Once a week, you will connect over the phone, and provide one-on-one assistance and conversation, creating a positive and meaningful connection. 

Whether you are chatting about common interests, helping with day-to-day activities, or simply being a kind companion on the line, dedicating your time to an individual in your community will have a positive impact on their lives. 


QUALITIES: 
- Trustworthy, patient, empathetic, friendly 
- Reliable, responsible, and organized, and must be able to work with minimal supervision 
- Excellent communication skills 
- Must be available for 1-2 hours a week 
- Must be open to learning more about vision loss and be dedicated to helping individuals with sight loss to live more independently
