Be a companion for Adventure - Volunteer with Vision Mate Program!
Are you someone who enjoys getting out and about, exploring your city, and connecting with others? You could make a meaningful impact in the life of a community member with sight loss right here in Edmonton. We’re looking for a friendly, dependable volunteer to support a CNIB participant who’s eager to enjoy more of what the city has to offer. This individual is outgoing and independent but needs a little extra help navigating the world safely and confidently. Together, you might: Visit local attractions like the Edmonton Zoo, TELUS World of Science, or Fort Edmonton Park Go shopping or run errands Take walks or attend community events Use DATS or public transit together Enjoy conversation, companionship, and shared experiences This opportunity is perfect for someone who: Enjoys being active in the community Is kind, communicative, and supportive Can provide gentle guidance as a sighted guide Is comfortable using transit or DATS Can commit to 1–2 hours per week on a flexible schedule As a Vision Mate, you’ll: Accompany a client on outings and activities Offer sighted guidance and support with navigation Help build confidence, independence, and community connection
