Volunteer Adaptive Ski or Snowboard Instructor

Canadian Adaptive Snowsports Association (CADS) Calgary is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to experience skiing and snowboarding. We ensure personalized support and meaningful progress with one-on-one coaching to group lessons.
Each student is usually paired with 2 volunteer instructors, although that can vary depending on the needs of the student. We pair new volunteers with more experienced volunteer instructors. Volunteers need to be comfortable on skis or snowboard at WinSport, Canada Olympic Park. We provide training to our volunteers starting with information sessions in November and then we run a lesson program for students for 8 weeks starting in January. This year the lesson program runs for 6 Sunday evenings and 2 Saturday evenings. Volunteer training is Thursday and Friday evenings in December and then Thursday evenings in the new year.
ONLINE VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION OPENS ON SEPTEMBER 1st and is ongoing. The number of students we can accept is directly tied to the number of volunteers who register so please sign up early and give us a call or an email if you have any questions.

Training is especially important for new volunteers before the student lessons start in January. There are weekly opportunities throughout the season.
Certification or Education Required
must be comfortable on skis or snowboard but certification is not necessary
