The Calgary Volunteer Fair (CVF) is a one-day event, gathering 60 local organizations that utilize the services of volunteers in one place. Visitors will be able to attend the event at no cost and gather information from as many organizations as they wish to discuss opportunities with. We will be including agencies serving a wide variety of interests, from animal welfare to health initiatives to immigration and senior services. The event will be a trade show format, with exhibitors representing their organizations stationed at tables that attendees will visit.
Of particular note is the desire of the CVF to maximize outreach to populations that could benefit the most from volunteering with organizations about which they are passionate. CVF, in coordination with partner agencies, will be developing strategies to target immigrants and new Canadians as attendees. By partnering with agencies that work with and counsel people newly resident in Canada, we believe that we can create a welcoming opportunity that allows them to explore their opportunities to participate in their communities with organizations and causes about which they feel strongly.
