The grant researcher will look for grants and other sources of funding for the Calgary Horticultural Society. The grant researcher will be expected to track these grants including their value, the application deadline, the prerequisites necessary for applications, and other -related details that will be covered in the responsibilities section. We are specifically looking for opportunities that will support our core operation over projects, though tightly aligned new project funders will also be appreciated. The primary role is looking for grants that will align with the Society aspirations. Responsibilities The grant researcher’s duties include: • Creating an organized matrix of grant information, including: • Deadlines • Focus e.g., environment • Grant requirements • Amount of funding offered • Contact info (if provided) • Maintaining timely communications with the Executive Director and staff •Contacting grant providers for additional information • Sources of funding may include businesses, foundations, non-profits that may provide grants, such as United Way municipal and government agencies • Prepare grant application outlines, gathering information, and preparing answers to application questions • Complete grant applications if required by Executive Director Qualifications • Adept at conducting an online search for grant or funding information • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Previous experience in grant writing and/or research an asset • Articulate; capable of explaining the Calgary Horticultural Society’s mission to prospective • funding partners and building trust • Knowledge of fundraising information sources • Previous experience in non-profit fundraising an asset
