The Calgary Fringe Festival is a registered non-profit Society in the Province of Alberta, and is also a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency. We adhere to the Society Act of Alberta and our own governing Bylaws. We have a volunteer Board of Directors and Committee Members, with one full time staff person (Festival Director and Producer) who acts under the direction of the Board of Directors.

The Calgary Fringe Festival is a member of the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals (CAFF) which strictly adheres to the following four core principles:

o Participants will be selected on a non-juried basis, through a first-come, first served process, a lottery, or other method approved by the Association.

o The audience must have the option to pay a ticket price, 100% of which goes directly to the artists (government taxes notwithstanding).

o Fringe Festival producers have no control over the artistic content of each performance. The artistic freedom of the participants is unrestrained.

o Festivals must provide an easily accessible opportunity for all audiences and all artists to participate in Fringe Festivals.

Vision Statement : to create a supportive, engaging, and interactive community through theatrical arts.

Mission Statement: The Calgary Fringe Festival strives to support theatre artists of all disciplines from around the globe by offering opportunities that offer a hand up, not a hand out. We strive to offer Calgarians an opportunity to build community through the theatrical arts by offering the community inclusive and accessible arts programming that stress a broad-based, interdisciplinary approach to the arts, and by fostering an environment of artistic freedom and expression. It is a welcoming community where values of equality, non-discrimination, and tolerance of diversity are appreciated and actively promoted by all. 100% unbiased. 100% unjured. 100% of all ticket revenue (excluding GST and ticketing surcharges) goes back to the artist.

The Calgary Fringe occurs each summer over 9 days, starting the Fri of the August long weekend.
