Director or Officer of the Board

20-24 hours / yearly

We are looking for 5 professionals to join our Board: Physicians, Public Accountants, Nurses, Teachers or persons with lived experience as Parents or Family members of children at risk for or with neurodiversity--autism, ADHD, LD, ID, mental health concerns, medical complexity or other disorders. Directors/Officers meet quarterly for 2 hours and annually at the 2-hour Annual General Meeting and 3-hour Strategic Planning Meeting and Volunteer­ Family Acknowledgement Lunch.

The Treasurer, Officer of the Board, chairs the Finance Committee that moves forward accounting, budgeting, financing and forecasting for our 3 services delivered to families. This committee also emits Tax Receipts for eligible donations and sponsorships, and tracks annual membership dues that support the Registered Charity sustainability. The Treasurer ensures that their financial reports are transparent and accurate, shows progress of assigned tasks and duties, highlights issues that need to be escalated to the board, delivers information to support the board's decision-making, provides information about new finance or thinking from outside people/groups that could help the charity achieve its goals.

The Secretary, Officer of the Board, organises board meetings, takes minutes, manages correspondence, coordinates updates and background information required by the board and federal/provincial corporate offices, and keeps membership records. The Secretary ensures that their reports are transparent and accurate, shows progress of assigned tasks and duties, highlights issues that need to be escalated to the board, delivers information to support the board's decision-making, provides information about new technology or thinking from outside people/groups that could help the charity achieve its goals.

General Directors of the Board chair a working committee composed mainly of volunteers who advance the mission for children and their families. All Directors and Officers must reside full time in Canada.
