Be A Budd Foundation Director - Treasurer - Starting from the ground up!!

Be A Budd (BAB) is a youth-led community initiative dedicated to fostering connection, kindness, and belonging through community service that uplifts others. Now entering its fifth year of grassroots impact, BAB has grown from a simple idea into a meaningful movement powered by young people who want to make a difference. As we finish our first year as a registered non-profit organization, we are building the foundational structures needed to sustain and responsibly expand our work. Our volunteer Board of Directors plays a critical role in providing governance, strategic direction, and financial stewardship to help establish strong systems from the ground up and ensure long-term sustainability as we deepen and grow our community partnerships.

Position Overview:
The Treasurer is part of the Board of Directors and is responsible for overseeing the financial stewardship of the Be A Budd Foundation. Working closely with the other Board members, the Treasurer ensures sound financial management, accurate and transparent reporting, and compliance with all relevant legislation and organizational policies. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build relationships, connect with like-minded people, make a positive impact on the community, all while expanding their skills and gaining board experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Oversight and Reporting
•	Prepare and present the quarterly financial statements to the Board at the quarterly meetings. Oversee the work of the Leadership team and advise, when needed, on how to properly record disbursements/receipts. Monitor cash inflows and outflows and budget compliance. 

Budgeting and Planning
•	Create the annual budget for the Foundation.  Ensure the Board has sufficient information to make informed decisions.  

Compliance and Accountability
•	Coordinates the completion of annual audit, charity returns, grant reporting Review/revise the financial policies and procedures as needed

Leadership & Stewardship
•	Attend four (4) Board meetings per year
•	Provide strategic oversight and direction aligned with BAB’s mission, values, and community priorities
•	Support organizational governance, policy development, and financial stewardship
•	Participate in fundraising activities, community events, and advocacy efforts as appropriate
•	Act as an ambassador for the organization, upholding safety, integrity, and accountability

Qualifications:
•	Professional experience in accounting, finance, or financial management required. Experience in accounting with not-for-profit organizations is desirable but not required. Well versed in financial principles and budgeting.
•	Ability to work independently while being a vital part of a team of volunteers. Strong analytical, administrative and organizational skills. Knowledge of board governance and previous board experience is valuable but not required.

Term:
•	Minimum commitment to one two-year term with the opportunity to renew for a second two-year.  Term Approximately 2-4 hours per month, including the Board meetings Attendance at quarterly Board meetings, virtual or in-person.
