ARBI is looking for dedicated and passionate board members to join our team to help make a difference.

ARBI’s Board of Directors comprises leaders from the non-profit and for-profit sectors who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on ARBI’s Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about strengthening leadership and governance in the non-profit sector and contributing to positive outcomes for brain injury survivors.

The board will support the work of ARBI and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. It is important that the board members align with our values: Quality of Life, Dignity & Respect, Hope, Diversity, Advocacy, Integrity and Teamwork.

Board members must have a strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.  They provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers in implementing programs, initiatives, and activities that promote diversity and inclusivity and improve our organization’s impact. Ensure that our organization’s policies, practices, and programs are aligned with our commitment. They assist to identify and cultivate partnerships and collaborations with other organizations, individuals, and groups that share our mission. 

 The board members serve as trusted advisors and are expected to:
- Keep information confidential where required.
- Have the financial acumen to read and understand the organization’s financial statements and to otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities. Aligning to the overall strategy and working to define and guide the goals is imperative. Reviewing the outcomes, results and metrics to continually evaluate effectiveness assists in determining the next course of action.
 - Serve on one or more committees of the board and actively participate in committee work.
- Play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for ARBI to achieve its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal relationships and connections to help the development committee and staff identify and solicit potential funders.
- Responsibly represent ARBI to their respective communities and advocate for ARBI’s mission, programs, and services as appropriate.
- Read board materials in advance of board meetings and come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.
