Alberta Theatre Projects (ATP) is seeking dedicated and visionary individuals to join our Board of Directors! This is your opportunity to support the vibrant world of live theatre and help shape the bold future of one of Calgary's most dynamic cultural organizations. About Alberta Theatre Projects At Alberta Theatre Projects, we produce live, professional, contemporary theatre that captivates and inspires audiences. Our 2024-25 season is underway, and we’re already looking ahead to the exciting seasons to come and laying the groundwork for an inspiring and sustainable future. The next five years will bring significant changes as Arts Commons/Werklund Centre, home to the Martha Cohen Theatre, undergoes a major expansion and renovation. This period of transformation offers a unique opportunity for Board Members to play a vital role in helping ATP thrive during a time of displacement and disruption. About The Role Our Board of Directors plays a vital role in guiding ATP's strategy, governance, and growth. As a Board Member, you will: • Provide strategic oversight and accountability to ensure the organization thrives. • Make key decisions that align with ATP's mission, vision, and goals. • Ensure ATP follows all legal, and regulatory requirements. We Are Looking for Board Members Who: • Are passionate about live theatre and the performing arts. • Will serve as enthusiastic advocates for ATP’s mission, vision, and values. • Can collaborate effectively with fellow Board members to support the organization. • Are committed to attending Board meetings and actively participating in subcommittees. • Will attend ATP performances and events to engage with patrons, sponsors, and donors, helping to promote and celebrate our work. • Will contribute to fundraising efforts based on their skills and comfort level. • Are eager to help develop and support ATP's strategic vision. Ideal candidates will have: • Leadership experience in their field of expertise, with skills in areas such as accounting, fundraising, communications, marketing, or theatre. • Experience serving on non-profit boards and an understanding of board governance (an asset but not required). • A proven track record of volunteerism and community involvement. • A commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the arts. Time Commitment • Board Meetings: Approximately 2 hours every two months. • Subcommittee Involvement: Approximately 1 hour each month. • Events and Performances: Attend ATP productions, donor events, season launches, and fundraising activities. Board terms are three years, with the option to renew for up to three terms. This is an exhilarating time to join ATP as we embark on a journey to reimagine what is possible in the world of theatre.
