Alberta Advocates

Non government funded non-profit society whose main focus is advocating for Special Needs Adults, most especially those whose Guardians and/or Trustees are not serving them well. There are multiple situations different Special Needs Adults are facing within Calgary and Alberta such as financial embezzlement by their Trustee and/or Guardian; intimidation and bullying by Guardians and employees of Agencies entrusted in providing care and support to Adults with Special Needs; intimidation by landlords which results in adults on AISH being somewhat 'forced' into paying an inordinate and extremely unreasonable amount for rent and/or living expenses. This non profit society will also focus on offering courses so adults with Special Needs and those on AISH will learn life skills so they will become significantly more comfortable advocating for themselves when there is nobody in their lives to do so on their behalf.
