Web Designer

The Ability Workshop Society (AWS) has an opening for a Web Designer. We are a totally volunteer run charity that designs/adapts and creates custom equipment for those people living with a disability. We also repair assistive technology devices, adapted toys and equipment.

At AWS we change lives, and we need to change too. We believe our website, can be improved greatly to better our exposure, attract new clients, volunteers, and donors, and our work processes. If you have experience and talent in web design, development and maintenance, we would love to hear from you, whether you would like to take the lead or just assist with building a new or upgrading our website 
Should you bring or be interested in other skills that you could contribute or would like to learn additional skills, be they management, administration, projects or other areas, our organization is looking for more volunteers in many areas. We are a mix of individuals from a full spectrum of backgrounds, with a common goal of designing and building safe, economic, innovative solutions to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities, and enable them to enjoy life more fully.
If you have web design and development skills and would like to help our organization, we would truly appreciate your help, whether it be as a lone wolf or as part of a team.
Our volunteers have already created a list of features that are wants, needs and don’t wants, along with the websites that are examples of the feature. Next steps are to create a web layout diagram and other details, and that, combined with your input on recommended technical aspects such as software, will enable us to finalize the design basis. Strong scope definition will simplify your creation of a website we will all be proud of.
