Shop Foreman
Shop Foreman For Mechanical Shop The Ability Workshop Society has an opening for a volunteer Shop Foreman for a mechanical shop. We are a totally volunteer run charity that designs/adapts and creates custom equipment for those living with a disability. We also repair assistive technology devices, adapted toys and equipment. Our mechanical workshop is 2000 sq ft and located in Inglewood in Calgary. Key Responsibilities • Workflow & Production Management: Assigns Requests For Assistance, monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely completion to meet standards. • Quality Control: Inspect completed work, diagnose complex problems, and ensure high standards of repair and service. • Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety regulations, maintain a safe environment, and ensure proper equipment operation. (There is also a Safety Officer) • Inventory & Equipment: Oversee parts inventory, order supplies, and ensure tools and machinery are maintained and available. • Administration: Handle paperwork, update records, provide cost estimates etc as required.

Mentorship/training provided by current Shop Foreman.
Certification or Education Required
Essential Skills & Qualifications • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repairs. • Leadership: Ability to guide, mentor, and manage a technical team effectively. • Problem-Solving: Quick, decisive action for unexpected issues. • Communication: Clear communication with volunteers, and clients. • Organization: Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
