Ongoing
At Better Days Foundation, we stand as a pillar of support for Black families during difficult times. Our mission is to build a sustainable fund that ensures no family — especially within Black Francophone and Anglophone communities — faces the burden of meeting their children’s basic needs alone.

We are dedicated to empowering Black Francophone and Anglophone communities by providing equitable access to resources, support, and opportunities that foster dignity, resilience, and self-reliance.

We are seeking an HR Specialist to lead our volunteer recruitment and management efforts, helping us strengthen our team and expand our impact in Calgary and beyond.

The HR Specialist will play a key role in hiring, onboarding, guiding, and managing volunteers across our programs. The ideal candidate is organized, people-focused, and passionate about community service and capacity building in the nonprofit sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead volunteer recruitment through job postings, outreach, and interviews.

Develop and oversee onboarding processes to ensure all volunteers are trained and supported.

Maintain accurate volunteer records and ensure compliance with organizational policies.

Support program leads with volunteer scheduling and coordination.

Provide mentorship, recognition, and performance feedback to volunteers.

Update and implement HR policies and procedures related to volunteer engagement.

Collaborate with leadership to assess volunteer needs and improve retention strategies.

Qualifications:

Experience in HR, volunteer management, or nonprofit administration.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.

Familiarity with Google Workspace or HR management tools.
