Summer Day Camp Volunteers
Stream of Dreams Murals Society is offering a free summer program for Indigenous children ages 6-12. We are looking for volunteers ages 14+ to help us deliver these programs on any of these dates: July 7-9, 14-16, 21-23, 28-30 August 18-20, 25-27 Each shift is from 8 am to 4 pm outdoors at our office on Burnaby Lake. You can choose individual days or whole weeks to help out. Interested volunteers will need to provide a recent (6 months or newer) criminal record check for the vulnerable sector. Let us know if you need a record check and we will provide a letter for your application that will waive the fee. We are also asking new volunteers to attend a brief introduction/training event on Wednesday, July 2 from 1-3 pm. The home base for our volunteer camps will be at our office on Burnaby Lake which is accessible by transit. Please apply if interested and we will contact you with more information. Our camps will include learning about the natural world with a focus on Coast Salish and Metis culture through Knowledge Keepers at Burnaby Lake. If this sounds like something you want to be part of please sign up and we'll send along more information.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Gain experience working with children and high school volunteer hours if needed. We are happy to write a letter of recommendation as well. This will also be a fun opportunity to learn about Indigenous culture through crafts and games for yourselves!
