Senior TAPS Program

This TAPS Program is a partnership between BC Housing and Burnaby Neighbourhood House to provide a venue for a recreational, social, educational and life skills activities living in Stratford Gardens.

Location: Stratford Garden - 6005 Pandora St, Burnaby BC V5B 1M4
Volunteer Hours: 8:30am-12:30pm

Volunteer Duties:

Setup
- Clean and sanitize tables
- Empty dishwasher
- Set up coffee and tea area and water station (Top up sugar if needed)
- Place snacks on table
- Open blinds and unlock doors at 9am

During the program
- Greet residents as they come in
- Add their name onto the sign in clipboard
- Replenish coffee, milk and snacks if low (do not wait for coffee to be depleted before making more as it is a 15-20 min brewing process)
- Most importantly: Engage and connect with the residents (perhaps through conversation on interests, hobbies, etc)

Closing/Cleanup
- 10 minutes before closing, take away dirty plates/cups/napkins
- Remove all items from coffee and tea area to the kitchen
- Sanitize tables with wipes
- Sweep floors of any crumbs/debris
- Close blinds and any windows left open

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application process with the Burnaby Neighbourhood House. This includes a volunteer application form, informal interview (10 mins), completing an online volunteer orientation (22 mins.), and policy form
