Senior Food Program Volunteer

Burnaby Neighbourhood House’s Seniors Team runs programs to help older adults in Burnaby access nutritious meals and grocery support. These include:
•	Burnaby Meals on Wheels – delivers hot and frozen meals to residents who are unable to prepare meals for themselves.
•	Senior Shopping – assists seniors with placing their weekly online grocery orders.
•	Prepare Meals – provides frozen meals for pick-up and biweekly delivery.
Volunteer Drivers are a key part of making these programs successful by ensuring meals and groceries reach seniors in a timely and reliable way.

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking compassionate and reliable volunteer drivers who are also comfortable supporting with light administrative tasks. Volunteers in this role will primarily focus on deliveries and program support at the Brentwood Office.
•	Location: Brentwood Office – 2055 Rosser Ave
•	Days: Wednesday and Friday
•	Shifts: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Duties may include:
•	Picking up and delivering prepared meal packages to seniors in Burnaby.
•	Assisting with grocery and frozen meal orders from seniors (over the phone or online).
•	Responding to client inquiries about meal programs.
•	Helping prepare labels, delivery bags, and invoices as needed.
•	Ensuring food is handled and transported safely.
•	Representing Burnaby Neighbourhood House in a friendly and respectful manner.

The ideal candidate will be:
•	Safe and reliable driver: Holds a valid BC Class 5 driver’s license and has access to an insured vehicle.
•	Compassionate and patient: Able to engage with seniors in a respectful and supportive way.
•	Organized and detail-oriented: Comfortable assisting with taking orders over the phone, making labels, and handle program documentation.
•	Responsible and dependable: Punctual and committed to scheduled shifts.
•	Team-oriented: Works collaboratively with program staff and other volunteers.
