Senior Food Program Volunteer
Burnaby Neighbourhood House’s Seniors Team runs programs to help older adults in Burnaby access nutritious meals and grocery support. These include: • Burnaby Meals on Wheels – delivers hot and frozen meals to residents who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. • Senior Shopping – assists seniors with placing their weekly online grocery orders. Who are we looking for? We are seeking compassionate and reliable volunteers who are comfortable supporting with light administrative tasks. Volunteers in this role will primarily focus on deliveries or program support at the Brentwood Office. • Location: Brentwood Office – 2055 Rosser Ave • Days: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday • Shifts: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Duties may include: • Assisting with grocery and frozen meal orders from seniors (over the phone or online). • Responding to client inquiries about meal programs. • Helping prepare labels, delivery bags, and invoices as needed. • Representing Burnaby Neighbourhood House in a friendly and respectful manner. The ideal candidate will be: • Compassionate and patient: Able to engage with seniors in a respectful and supportive way. • Organized and detail-oriented: Comfortable assisting with taking orders over the phone, making labels, and handling program documentation. • Comfortable using the computer or phone to create a grocery order for seniors using the store website or app (Training will be provided) • Responsible and dependable: Punctual and committed to scheduled shifts. • Team-oriented: Works collaboratively with program staff and other volunteers.
