Volunteers for Burnaby Artisan Farmers' Market!
We want YOU! Exciting volunteer opportunities await! The AFMS, which runs the Burnaby Artisan Farmers' Market, is a non-profit organization with a plan to provide local communities with locally grown foods, farm products, and other locally made products. We host markets to facilitate a direct producer-to-consumer relationship. By providing this service, we aim to preserve and promote local agriculture, enhance local community and improve the overall quality of life. Volunteer shifts: We have multiple shifts, one from 7:15am to 11:30am, and another from 11:30am to 3:00pm. The Burnaby Artisan Farmers' Market runs on Saturdays, from May 10th till Oct 18th, 9am - 2pm at 4949 Canada Way (in the parking lot of Burnaby City Hall). Some tasks that we would like volunteers to help with include... - Helping to sent up tents, tables, chairs, and signs for the market. - Assisting vendors with setting up their tents and watching over their products when they step away. - Answering questions from customers at our Information Tent. - Handing out loyalty cards. - Conducting customer surveys. - Helping to take down the tents, tables, chairs, and signs to pack up the market. Come hang with us and join our volunteer team! We stand by the three F's- Fun, Friends and Food! :)
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteers can practice their social skills and English proficiency by helping customers in a safe, open, and friendly environment. Volunteers can gain volunteering hours for their work at the Burnaby Artisan Farmers' Market, but 20 hours must be completed before a confirmation letter will be given. Lots of good food and art can be purchased, and volunteers are sometimes given discounts or even free items!
