Board Member, Gift of Giving Back
The Opportunity: We are seeking hands-on Board Members to join our passionate, community-driven team. This is a volunteer leadership role for individuals who want to make a tangible difference - contributing strategically at the board level while also rolling up their sleeves to support our events and programs. You’ll help guide the organization’s direction, strengthen community partnerships, and play an active role in ensuring we meet our goals, mission, and strategic objectives. About Us: For 20 years, The Gift of Giving Back (GOGB) has inspired youth, families, and local organizations to give back to their communities by collecting food and essential items for those in need. What began as a small local initiative has grown into one of the largest community food drives in Canada, supporting food banks, shelters, and outreach programs across the region. Together with schools, sports teams, community groups, and generous donors, we’ve collected millions of pounds of food for local agencies - helping families right here at home. Our Mission: To inspire, support, educate, and empower youth to compassionately give back by collecting food and funds for our network of member agencies serving families in their local communities. Our Vision: We envision a future without food insecurity - where youth lead with empathy, compassion, and a commitment to service. We believe in building stronger communities where no one goes hungry. Key Responsibilities: • Participate in monthly board meetings and contribute to strategic planning, fundraising activities, and community engagement discussions. • Actively support food drive events, assisting with setup, coordination, volunteer support, and logistics. • Serve as a community ambassador, helping to build relationships with sponsors, community partners, beneficiaries, and volunteers. • Participate in committee work (e.g., operations, fundraising, marketing, or logistics) based on your skills and interests. • Help ensure the organization’s work aligns with our mission and promotes a culture of generosity, inclusion, and collaboration. Ideal Candidate: • Passionate about community service and youth empowerment. • A team player who’s proactive, collaborative, strategic, and adaptable. • Comfortable taking initiative and engaging with people in dynamic, volunteer-driven settings. • Experience in non-profit leadership, logistics, youth engagement, marketing, or community organizing is an asset, but not required. • Willing to commit time throughout the year, especially during key food collection periods (which run from October to November, and May thru June).

How to Apply: If you’re passionate about youth empowerment, community building, & making a tangible difference, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your statement of interest and resume.
