Shifra Homes

Shifra Homes is a maternity shelter that provides a safe, affirming, and empowering environment for young pregnant women experiencing homelessness in the Halton region. Guided by the values of equity, dignity, and justice, we offer more than a shelter, we create a space where young women are respected, affirmed, and given the opportunity to reclaim stability and hope during a critical time in their lives.

We provide access to meaningful supports, resources, and inclusive care that center each individual's strengths and lived experience. Recognizing the complex social and systemic factors that lead to housing insecurity, we walk alongside youth offering them com
passion, stability, and solidarity as they navigate their journeys through pregnancy and early motherhood.

Our vision is a community where young pregnant women are healthy, supported, and free from stigma, violence, homelessness and marginalization. We strive toward a future where they are equipped with the tools, opportunities, and strong community connections needed to thrive, while working to dismantle the systemic barriers that contribute to youth homelessness.

At Shira Homes, we stand with young women, not ahead of them amplifying their voices and supporting them as they build the lives they envision for themselves and their children.
