Board of Directors - Treasurer
Survivor Advocates for Empowerment (SAFE) is a survivor-led organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for survivors of gender-based violence. We are seeking an experienced financial professional to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer. The Treasurer will provide financial leadership and oversight to support SAFE’s continued growth and long-term sustainability. This role oversees the organization’s financial health and planning, including budgeting, cash flow, internal financial controls, financial reporting and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include: * Leading the annual budgeting process and supporting long-term financial planning * Overseeing cash flow, bank accounts, donor funds and financial controls * Preparing accurate financial statements and reports for the Board, funders and government bodies * Supporting compliance with CRA requirements, charitable reporting requirements and donor restrictions * Coordinating annual financial audits and working with external auditors * Maintaining relationships with financial institutions, auditors and other financial partners * Supporting effective financial systems, payroll, procurement and related operational processes * Providing financial guidance to the Board to support informed decision-making * Helping ensure SAFE’s financial practices support the organization’s mission, growth and long-term sustainability More details: https://www.survivor-advocates.org/safe-is-recruiting-board-members
Certification or Education Required
Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field required. CPA designation or relevant CPA experience preferred. Experience working within the non-profit and/or charitable sector is considered a strong asset.
