Restorations Second Stage Homes (“Restorations”) exists to support survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking by providing long-term residential housing (at "Nancy's House") and survivor-led peer programming.

Nancy’s House is our second-stage, 3-bedroom residential program in Burlington that provides survivors with a safe, supportive environment as they build independence and move toward their next steps.

Restorations is seeking volunteers to join our Maintenance & Property Team to help support the ongoing care, maintenance, safety, and functionality of Nancy’s House. This volunteer team plays an important behind-the-scenes role in helping ensure the property remains a safe, comfortable, and welcoming home for survivors.

Property Team Volunteers may assist with identifying and responding to maintenance needs, coordinating contractors and service providers, supporting property improvement projects, and helping the organization think proactively about building and property needs.

Responsibilities may include:
● Supporting oversight of property maintenance needs including heating, plumbing, electrical, furnishings, landscaping, security, and general upkeep.
● Responding to maintenance concerns or repair requests brought forward by Nancy’s House staff.
● Assisting in coordinating contractors, vendors, and service providers.
● Helping obtain quotes and negotiate service agreements related to property management and maintenance.
● Providing recommendations related to property improvements, preventative maintenance, and safety.
● Assisting with budget recommendations related to building and property needs.
● Supporting occasional property projects, repairs, or improvement initiatives.
● Performing additional tasks delegated to the team from time to time.

An ideal candidate is someone who:
- Has experience or interest in property management, facilities maintenance, construction, skilled trades, and/or landscaping.
- Has flexibility to respond in a timely manner to needs at the residential home as required.
- Enjoys practical problem-solving and helping maintain welcoming, functional spaces.
- Can think strategically about property needs, budgeting, and preventative maintenance.
- Values teamwork, reliability, professionalism, and supporting survivors through practical impact.
Additional Details & Skills Required
Applications will be received until July 2026 after which qualified applicants will be contacted regarding next steps (including an interview). All duties will be conducted at residential program in Burlington, Ontario. Confidential address will be provided to successful applicants during onboarding. Due to engagement with program residents, a vulnerable sector check is required and will be reimbursed for successful applicants. Volunteering is performed as needs arise + 2 planning meetings/year.
Certification or Education Required
Experience in property maintenance, skilled trades, facilities management, construction, or building operations is strongly valued. This may include backgrounds in plumbing, electrical, HVAC/heating systems, carpentry, general contracting, and/or landscaping. Familiarity with coordinating repairs, working with service providers or contractors, and overseeing building upkeep is an asset. Formal certification or apprenticeship training in a relevant trade an asset but is not required.
