We are Community Living Burlington, proudly celebrating 70 years of service to our community. Today, we support over 400 children and adults with developmental disabilities, helping them live enriched and meaningful lives. Our Board of Directors is a 12 person volunteer governance board which meets 6 times each year and is currently comprised of three sub-committees: Finance, Audit and Risk, Resource Development and HR & Governance. We have several vacancies that we are hoping to fill with a diverse group of passionate and qualified members of the community. We are seeking skilled and experienced individuals with a broad range of work and lived experiences, and educational backgrounds. Preferred areas of experience/qualifications include financial management, board governance, human resources and risk management. Experience in the public, not-for-profit or broader public sectors would be an asset, as would a background in social services or related fields. TIME COMMITMENT: · Attend Board meetings the fourth Tuesday of every other month, 6 months/year · Attend the Annual General Meeting · Participate in Board Committee meetings TERM OF POSITION: 3 years – June 2025-June 2028 LOCATION: Community Living Burlington, 3057 Mainway Drive, Burlington KNOWLEDGE, SKILL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: - Experience in one or more of the following areas: Board Governance, Financial Management, Human Resources Management, Risk Management, and/or Lived, volunteer or employment experience in the broader social services sector - Previous experience service on a Board of Directors or Advisory Board - Experience with the Strategic Planning Process - Excellent team player - Demonstrated critical thinking skills - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - A passion for our organization's mission and a commitment to making a positive impact - Resident of Halton Region preferred (as in-person at attendance at Board meetings is required) BENEFITS OF BEING A BOARD MEMBER: - Use professional skills in a volunteer capacity and have an impact in the community - Opportunity to help shape the direction and strategic decisions of the organization - Enhance and leverage leadership skills - Raise personal profile in the community - Broaden professional networking group For more information about Community Living Burlington, please visit www.clburlington.ca.
