BOARD MEMBER Centre for Skills Development – Burlington, ON Volunteer Seeking Visionary Members for the Board of Directors Centre for Skills Development (Centre for Skills) is a charitable organization serving the Halton community for more than 20 years offering equitable access to integrated, responsive programs and services that prepare clients for the current and emerging labour market. Centre for Skills is dedicated to adult learning through career and workforce development and training. Each year, Centre for Skills serves thousands of clients, including people who access employment services, language training and settlement services, skilled trades programs, and employers with whom we work on strengthening the skills of their teams. In terms of the current Centre for Skills Board vacancy, particular consideration will be given to those applicants with experience at a high level of responsibility and/or specific expertise in one or more of the following areas: non-profit leadership/governance, legal, human resources, and Centre for Skills alumni. Additional Criteria for Board Membership: Non-profit Board experience and connection to the Halton and diverse community we serve and live and/or work in Halton; High integrity, honesty and reputation; Personal maturity with an understanding of group dynamics and solid teamwork skills; Experience at a high level of responsibility and/or specific expertise in one or more of the following areas: non-profit leadership/governance, legal, human resources and Centre for Skills alumni; No immediate conflict of interest with respect to individual’s job or association with other organizations; Ability to provide strategic advice, time and expertise to Centre for Skills; and Commitment to attend Board and Committee meetings and other Centre for Skills functions and participate actively in the promotion of Centre for Skills. Term An initial three-year term, with subsequent renewable one-year terms. Salary This is a volunteer position without any financial compensation. Time Commitment Seven Board meetings per year, held virtual, and sometimes in-person for 2-3 hours Special Board meetings as needed Centre for Skills Events as they occur (2-3 hours each) Expressions of interest will be accepted until Thursday, April 30, 2026, inclusive.
