Literacy Program Support @ MCRC [Milton]
Are you passionate about supporting children and youth in their learning journey? The Centre for Diverse Learners is seeking dedicated volunteers (ages 16+) to join our Leaps in Literacy program at the Milton Community Resource Centre (MCRC). 📍 Location: Milton Community Resource Centre (MCRC), Milton, ON 📅 Day & Time: Thursdays | 3:45 PM – 6:15 PM 🗓️ Fall Session Dates: October 20 – December 19, 2025 About the Program: Leaps in Literacy is designed to support students with diverse learning needs in grades 2–8. Through small group activities and one-on-one support, volunteers help create a welcoming environment where students can strengthen their reading, writing, and comprehension skills while building confidence and a love of learning. Volunteer Responsibilities: Arrive on time and assist with classroom setup and cleanup. Welcome and guide students to appropriate spaces. Provide one-on-one or small group support under the facilitator’s guidance. Encourage participation in literacy games, activities, and exercises. Help foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment. Support breaks and transitions as needed. What We’re Looking For: Volunteers 16 years of age or older. Patience, reliability, and enthusiasm for working with children. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
