Leaps in Literacy volunteers support neurodiverse children (ages 6–12) in fun, small-group reading activities led by trained educators. You’ll help students build confidence with essential literacy skills through games, reading practice, and movement breaks — all in a safe, welcoming environment. You’ll assist with smooth transitions at drop-off and pick-up, encourage positive behaviour, and help students stay engaged during activities. Volunteers may also record simple observations to help track student progress over the session. No teaching experience is needed – all training and materials are provided. This is a great opportunity for anyone exploring education, psychology, child and youth work, or supporting diverse learners in the community! Tues and/or Thurs 4:45-7:30pm 1070 McCraney St E, Oakville, ON L6H 2R6 MUST BE 16+ or 18+ with VALID VSC Dated in the last 12 Months.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Gain hands-on experience working with children, learn about neurodiverse learning needs, build confidence in communication and leadership, and make a meaningful difference in your community. Volunteer hours and reference letters provided upon request.
