Friendship Club Volunteer
This volunteer position supports the Centre for Diverse Learners’ Friendship Club drop-in program at our Burlington location. The Friendship Club program is intended to support neurodiverse children and youth in grades 2 to 8 who would like to develop their interpersonal social skills to build and foster friendships, understand conflict resolution, social cues, and non-verbal communication during the summer. Our facilitators will work with children and youth in groups of 5-20 through a drop-in program at our Burlington location for 2.5 hours a week, for 7 weeks. Under the supervision of the Facilitator, the volunteer will support program delivery, uphold a safe environment that fosters well-being and achievement, and contribute positively to programming at all times. This may include a variety of responsibilities, including assisting with drop-off and pick-up, providing students with body breaks as needed, and working one-to-one with a student who requires additional support in a specific area. Training is provided and is mandatory for ALL volunteers. All volunteers must submit a clear Vulnerable Sector Check dated within the last 12 months.
