Join the Burlington Museums Foundation Board – Finance Expertise

The Burlington Museums Foundation raises friends and funds to support Burlington’s two museums, the Joseph Brant Community Museum and Ireland House at Oakridge Farm. Our community museums are cultural destinations that provide diverse opportunities for visitors to explore, learn and connect with Burlington’s history.

We are currently seeking a Board member with strong financial expertise, ideally someone with experience in accounting, finance, investments, financial reporting or governance, to eventually take on the role of Treasurer.

This role will work alongside a existing to learnt the the role of Treasurer and will play an important role in providing financial oversight and guidance to the Foundation, working with the Board to ensure sound financial management, accountability and long-term sustainability.

As a Board member, you will:

Provide oversight of the Foundation’s financial affairs and investments
Serve as Treasurer and support the preparation and review of financial reports and budgets
Work with the Board and external financial professionals as required
Help ensure strong financial controls, accountability and good governance
Participate in Board decision-making and strategic planning
Use your professional expertise to help strengthen the Foundation
Serve as an ambassador for the Foundation and Museums of Burlington
Participate on committees or in other areas where your expertise can add value

The Board consists of up to 11 members and meets approximately once a month. The expected commitment is approximately 2-3 hours per month, including meetings and preparation.
