Volunteer Program Planner

STEM Canada is a registered not for profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

We are seeking a volunteer program planner for our summer university program to assist with planning and implementation duties for our 2023 summer program. 

Planning areas: Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario

The successful candidate will support the development of program strategies, planning across the university, planning activities across the city, coordinating meals with restaurants, and coordinate an effective program overall.

Volunteer commitment: 2-4 hours per week for the next 8 weeks. Volunteer from home in a collaborative environment online.

Key Responsibilities:
Works with our VP team to carry our tasks as assigned, including but not limited to:

- Helps to plan all aspects of the camp programs day program and residential camp program.
- Helps to create daily/weekly programming for our 6 week summer program.
- Work with volunteers and staff to ensure all programs are staffed and camper ratios are in good standing.
- Helps to ensure medical, safety and security measures are in place for all camps.
- Helps with the implementation of new and creative approaches to enhance the camp experience.
- Helps with the implementation and programming for all camp related programs and workshops. 
- including physical activity and instructional programs.

Requirements:

- Highly collaborative style; experience developing and executing camp programs.
- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
- A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiative.
- Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence."
- Self-starter, able to work independently; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.

Other Qualifications:
Applicants must be:

- Over the age of 18.
- Have an understanding of charitable and not-for-profit organizations.
