Youth Justice Committee Volunteer - South Simcoe

The Youth Justice Committee (YJC)  is comprised of screened and trained volunteers from the community, who implement alternatives to formal court proceedings. Youth 12 to 17 years of age who have committed minor offences and who agree to take responsibility for their actions are eligible to participate in the program. Across Simcoe County, youth, their parents/guardians, and trained members of the community work together to repair harm caused and rebuild relationships. 

Duties in this volunteer role:
* Be a representation of the community you reside in.
* Attend YJC meetings and determine meaningful and appropriate ways for youth to make amends.
* Ensure that the youth are aware of the purpose of the meeting.
* Present and agree upon appropriate sanctions for youth to complete to be successful in the program.
* Respect the confidentiality of the youth and other YJC members throughout the process.

Must complete the Volunteer Application, submit a current resume, and submit two professional references. Attend an in-person interview with the Volunteer Coordinator and submit a Vulnerable Sector Check.
