***Volunteer Airdrie is posting this role on behalf of IAmWhole Outreach*** Qualifications for the Volunteer for the classes - They are not looking for formal teaching credentials. What matters most is: - Comfort speaking English clearly - A warm, patient, and friendly personality - Willingness to guide simple conversations - Openness to building relationships with newcomers - Reliability and a heart for community - Comfortable listener and encourager What the Volunteer Will Do This role is all about connection, not formal instruction. Responsibilities include: - Engaging participants in casual, guided conversations - Helping newcomers practice everyday English - Encouraging shy learners and creating a welcoming atmosphere - Participating in group activities like games, storytelling, and cultural sharing - Supporting the overall flow of the session alongside the facilitator It’s a relational role — more about presence and encouragement Age Restrictions - Volunteers: Ideally adults or mature older teens (18+) who can commit, communicate clearly, and support newcomers respectfully. - Participants: No strict age limit, but the program is designed for adults and older youth who want to improve conversational English in a community setting. - Volunteers should be comfortable with being in a faith setting.
