About the Role:

We are seeking a Volunteer to lead and support gardening events and monthly educational lectures, and promote those events online through Facebook. 
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people across various age groups, wants to learn about community and event organizing, and wants to make a positive impact in the community.

Support will be available for this position as we are looking for a volunteer to take on part of the tasks currently handled by other volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and coordinate lectures and seasonal events, such as tool exchanges and garden tours.

Create advertising postings (optional/support provided)

Distribute advertising through social media as well as in physical locations to promote events

Taking participation counts and being present during the lectures/events

Communicating with the members of Airdrie Horticultural Society and with the subject-matter experts, communicating with the participants at events, and communicating with the City of Airdrie Parks on occasional organizational matters.

Qualifications: 

-Interest in community gardening, landscaping, or suburban horticulture
-Understanding the basics of scheduling
-Computer Literacy 
-Social Media Literacy
-Professional Communication Online
-Ability to commute to and from lectures (Usually held in Genesis 6 - 8 pm), and other morning events in the summer
-Adobe Suite or similar digital media toolkit literacy preferred but not required
