Social Media Volunteer
✨POSITION SUMMARY Help strengthen our community by promoting volunteer opportunities and inspiring volunteer engagement across Halton Region. Why Volunteers Enjoy This Role • Flexible, fully remote volunteer opportunity • Gain practical experience in social media, communications, and digital marketing • Build your resume, portfolio, or professional experience • Develop Canva, content creation, and copywriting skills • Support local non-profits and charitable organizations • Help connect community members with meaningful volunteer opportunities • Receive ongoing support and guidance from Volunteer Halton staff TIME COMMITMENT • Approximately 1–2 hours per week • Flexible schedule; tasks can be completed at any time during the week • Weekly content must be completed and submitted by Thursday at 5:00 PM • One-year commitment preferred LOCATION • Remote KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Create engaging weekly social media posts using Canva templates Promote volunteer opportunities from local non-profit organizations Write inspiring captions that encourage community involvement Help connect people with meaningful ways to give back across Halton Region Commit just 1–2 hours per week on a flexible schedule QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Strong English written communication skills Interest in social media and community engagement Comfortable using (or willing to learn) Canva and basic Microsoft Office tools Detail-oriented and able to follow templates and guidelines Self-motivated, reliable, and able to meet weekly deadlines Social media experience is an asset, but not required—training and support are provided TRAINING & SUPPORT Volunteer orientation and training Free access to Canva Pro Ready-to-use templates and resources Ongoing guidance and support from our team
