Volunteer Ambassadors (Youth Opportunity – Ages 16+) in Burlington
✨POSITION SUMMARY Volunteer Ambassadors help connect people in Halton Region with meaningful volunteer opportunities while representing Volunteer Halton at local community events. WHAT YOU'LL DO: •Attend community events to promote volunteering •Work alongside another Volunteer Ambassador as part of a team •Share information about Volunteer Halton and local volunteer opportunities •Help community members explore volunteer opportunities that match their interests •Use fun and engaging materials to start conversations •Be punctual, professional, and respectful •Follow Volunteer Halton policies and seek support from staff when needed TIME COMMITMENT: •6-month commitment •Approximately 1 community event per month •About 30 volunteer hours total, plus training time WHERE YOU'LL VOLUNTEER •Community events across Halton Region •Event locations may include: >Burlington >Halton Hills >Milton >Oakville >Volunteers are placed in or near their own community whenever possible WHAT YOU NEED: •Must be at least 16 years old •Friendly and comfortable speaking with people •Strong communication and people skills •Organized and able to manage questions effectively •Comfortable using Volunteer Connector: www.volunteerconnector.org •Respectful and inclusive when engaging with people from diverse backgrounds •Additional languages are considered an asset IMPORTANT BOUNDARIES •Volunteer Ambassadors do not guarantee volunteer placements •Personal experiences should not negatively influence how opportunities are shared TRAINING & SUPPORT •Mandatory training before starting •Online training (approximately 3 hours) •In-person training (approximately 2.5 hours) •First event completed alongside a CDH staff member •Ongoing staff support and post-event check-ins SCREENING PROCESS •Online Volunteer application •Interview- online over Zoom •Reference checks •Training and orientation, including a shadow shift
