Commitment: Short-term, project-based (June 1 to Sept 30) Location: Halton Region (remote outreach with occasional in-person meetings) ________________________________________ About the Halton Non-Profit Congress The Halton Non-Profit Congress (“Congress”) is the only professional development conference dedicated to nonprofit and charitable sector leaders in Halton Region. Congress is a transformative event designed for organizations of all sizes, with a particular focus on completely volunteer-led organizations in the sport, recreation, arts, culture, and environmental sub-sectors. The Congress brings together volunteers, executive directors, managers, board members, and emerging leaders to build skills, share knowledge, and strengthen the sector. This year, the Congress will take place on Saturday October 3, 2026 at the Milton Seniors Activity Centre, 500 Childs Drive, Milton. Event sponsorship plays a critical role in keeping the Congress accessible, affordable, and impactful. ________________________________________ Role Overview The Sponsorship Committee Member supports the success of the Halton Non-Profit Congress by helping to secure monetary and in-kind sponsorships. This role focuses on building and leveraging relationships with businesses, financial institutions, and granting organizations, particularly within the retail and banking sectors. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys relationship-building, is confident making “the ask,” and is passionate about strengthening the nonprofit sector. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities • Identify and research potential sponsors using personal networks, community connections, and provided resources. • Approach prospective sponsors to secure monetary and in-kind support for Congress. • Conduct outreach through: o Phone calls o Emails o Virtual or face-to-face meetings • Clearly communicate the value and impact of sponsoring the Halton Non-Profit Congress • Use approved sponsorship tools, messaging, and materials when making sponsorship requests • Track outreach activity and share updates with the Congress Committee Lead • Take direction and feedback from the Congress Committee Lead to align outreach efforts with overall sponsorship goals ________________________________________ Skills & Qualifications • Live and/or work in Halton Region • Comfortable asking for sponsorships or financial/in-kind support • Strong communication and relationship-building skills • Willingness to use and expand personal and professional networks • Confidence speaking with corporate, banking, retail, and granting organization representatives • Ability to follow guidance, use shared resources, and work collaboratively within a committee structure • Passion for the nonprofit and voluntary sector in Halton Region Previous experience in fundraising, sales, sponsorship, relationship management, or nonprofit work is an asset but not required. ________________________________________ Support & Training • Clear sponsorship packages, messaging, and background materials provided • Guidance and support from the Congress Committee Lead • Collaborative committee environment with shared goals and resources ________________________________________________________________ To apply, submit a video (5 minutes max) and a cover letter to the attention of Heather Johnson, Director, Volunteer Halton at volunteer@cdhalton.ca.
