Kitchen Prep and Meal Service Opportunity

Union Gospel Mission's main kitchen, located at 601 East Hastings Street, provides daily meals to community members, shelter guests, Men’s Recovery program participants, volunteers, and staff. We don’t just serve food; we create connections and build relationships one meal at a time. The kitchen is also often the starting point of countless transformative journeys at Union Gospel Mission. Volunteers will help support the kitchen staff in the preparation and serving of  200-400 daily robust and tasty dishes. 

Please note that the weekday afternoon shifts from 1-3 focus on meal prepping and do not include participating in meal service. 

Tasks
- Adhere to food safety and kitchen safety procedures including proper hair protection and wearing closed-toed shoes and gloves
- Assist with preparation of ingredients and meals
- Organize incoming food donations
- Serve hot meals to community members with a smile
