Social Interaction is incredibly important for one's overall well-being. As a social volunteer, you have the opportunity to support an adult with a physical and/or intellectual disability through developing meaningful and positive relationships and connections. This can empower our residents in feeling connected and able to participate more fully in their community.
Social Volunteers is a broad category at RILS, and the specific activities can be unique to what you and the resident might decide to do together. It can range from playing games to going for walks. You are a support to our residents. Our social volunteers partake in all sorts of in-house fun including games night, communal activities such as baking and crafts, art groups, gardening and much more. Social volunteers can also accompany individuals on outings and helping with chores.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
developing meaningful connections and friendships and contributing to the wellbeing of an individual.
