What does ATTA stand for?
The Activism Through Technology and Art (ATTA) Society is a registered non-profit in British Columbia. We currently have 30+ enthusiastic members across B.C. and Ontario from various disciplines including engineering, architecture, visual arts, fine arts, education, data science, and commerce. We are currently based out of the eatART Foundation lab space in Vancouver.

What is “When Air Take Shape”, our current project?
Currently, our team of 30 members is building a large-scale, kinetic, and interactive sculpture that focuses on the impact of air quality. It explores a new way of artistic activism and impact measurement - evoking empathy through emotionally resonant experiences with art.

Our work is also backed by data and science. To ensure this, we are working with Canada Research Chair and leading air quality researcher, Dr. Naomi Zimmerman from UBC’s Integrated Research in Energy, Air, Climate and Health (iREACH) Lab. This installation will be exhibited publicly across Canada and internationally.

We have completed a successful crowdfunding campaign in October 2022. We were also featured by several major media channels including Daily Hive, North Shore News, Squamish Chief, Pique News Magazine, VancouverisAwesome, Prince George Citizen, and CityNews. Up until today, we have raised over $15K in total through the support of over 100 donor organizations and individuals.

In September 2023, we held a soft launch event, where we showcased the installation for the first time to family and friends.
