CRIS (Community Recreational Initiatives Society) aims to create and promote accessibility and inclusivity in outdoor recreation and adventurous activities, primarily through the delivery of fully supported adaptive activity programs and by creating access to a large fleet of specialist adaptive equipment, which is often inaccessible due to cost, availability and a lack of practical support for the individual user.

Adaptive Adventures:
Spend some time hiking, kayaking, cycling, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing in the Okanagan region of British Columbia. Adaptive Adventures offers a range of different trips that enable all people regardless of ability to participate in outdoor activities. This program is funded by various sources with all contributions staying within our local communities.

Adaptive Rentals:
Are you without your gear, or have a family member with specific abilities? We can match your outdoor expectations with adaptive equipment unmatched by other rental options. Your rental fee has a direct impact in expanding our range of equipment, making the outdoors barrier free for individuals with a wide range of abilities, that may include cognitive, physical, or sensory impairments. Adaptive Rentals is here to promote your independent lifestyle.

Accessible Wilderness Expeditions:
AWE enables multi-day wilderness experiences for people that require additional support, typically because of physical or mental limitations, through a combination of the right people, experience, and adaptive equipment. We will make any destination available for anyone to experience no matter their abilities.
