Fund Development & Community Engagement Committee

#200, 10055 106 Street Northwest, Edmonton, AB, T5J 2Y2 [map]
3-5 hours / monthly
2 year term
Who are we? Cultural Connections Institute - The Learning Exchange (CCI-LEX) provides accessible English language classes for adult newcomers with an emphasis on community-building and cultural exchange. A registered charity in downtown Edmonton, we have been changing the lives of thousands of newcomers since 2003.
The Fund Development and Community Engagement Committee was created to identify ways to diversify and increase CCI-LEX’s revenue base and to raise public awareness of the organization to ensure future sustainability and growth for the benefit of our stakeholders.
Who are we looking for? We are looking for new volunteer committee members who will support CCI-LEX's mission and the important work of this committee! (Don’t worry, you won’t be door-knocking asking for donations or running a bake sale, but you will be asked to be an ambassador for CCI-LEX!)
People with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of the community, and the ability to work well in small groups are considered assets. We are seeking individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences to reflect the diversity of our community. We are currently seeking candidates with experience in any of the following areas:

Fund development strategy and initiatives
Marketing and “brand” development
Interacting and engaging with ethno-cultural groups
Strategic planning and policies review

Every member of the Fund Development and Community Engagement Committee is responsible to:

Act as an ambassador and advocate for the organization with ethno-cultural groups and the broader community

Assist in researching and identifying potential funding & donor opportunities.

Assist in the development and implementation of goals that raise public awareness and enhance the strategic networks of CCI-LEX, particularly with ethno-cultural groups

Assist in the drafting, revision and submission of policies related to fund development and community engagement to the Board of Directors for approval.

Provide support and guidance to the Executive Director, Staff and Board of Directors related to fund development and community engagement.
Additional Details & Skills Required
CCI-LEX values diversity and encourages applications from women, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people of Indigenous descent.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
CCI-LEX is an awesome organization to volunteer with! The CCI-LEX Board is a great team and joining us is an opportunity to gain experience on a non-profit board, expand your network, learn new skills, and use your skills to make a difference in the lives of newcomers!
