ABOUT THE ROLE

The VolunteerConnector Board of Directors is a Governance Board and is currently looking to add to the Board at its upcoming Annual General Meeting in June 2024. Specifically, we are recruiting for 2 Board members to join either the Governance & Nomination Committee or the Finance & Audit Committee. Members of the Board are elected for a term of two years and may stand for an additional 4 years.

All Board Members are accountable to the organization in the following ways:

• Providing input into the strategic plan of VolunteerConnector and advising on its long-term sustainability

• Ensuing strong fiduciary oversight and financial management

• Representing VolunteerConnector at events, as appropriate.

• Preparing in advance of Committee meetings and contribute to the decision-making process.

• Attending our virtual Board meetings regularly (typically 4 per year plus 1 annual day-long strategic planning session)

• Serving on at least one Committee and attending Committee meetings (typically 3-4 times per year)

• Committing to the role for a minimum of two years (the length of a term).

Finance & Audit Committee members:

• Assist with reviewing and providing feedback on the organization’s quarterly financial results, annual budget and annual audited financial statements.

• Develop an understanding of the organization’s risk management and financial policies, and assist with monitoring and ensuring compliance with these policies.

• Support discussions on forecasting and opportunities for revenue generation.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Qualifications in finance &/or accounting, including:

• Budgeting, financial results and audited financial statements

• Risk management and monitoring

• Forecasting

• Any of the following experience would be considered an asset:

• Previous or current non-profit Board member

• Funding management strategy &/or fund development

• Equity, diversity & inclusion

• Strategic planning

• Digital media relations

• Tech sector &/or start-ups

PERSONAL QUALITIES

You will be a strong member of our team if you have communications skills, empathy, passion for the cause, are eager to participate and express your ideas, a curiosity to learn, and have a creative & innovative mindset.
