STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results. 
 
Job Description:
As the Volunteer Policy and Legalities Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and legal requirements across STEM Canada's programs and operations. You will oversee the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures to protect the organization's interests and promote ethical conduct and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead policy development and compliance monitoring for legal alignment.
• Mitigate risks, manage contracts, conduct legal research, and ensure ethical conduct and stakeholder engagement while maintaining documentation and reporting.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in law or related field; JD or equivalent mandatory.
• 1 year experience in policy, compliance, or legal affairs required, preferably in non-profit/education.
• Strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and legal principles.
• Excellent analytical skills; ability to interpret complex legal documents and develop solutions.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for non-legal stakeholders.
• Meticulous attention to detail in legal document review and policy drafting.
• Collaborative work style with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Commitment to ethical standards and professionalism.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing legal environments; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Other Information:
• Seeking volunteers for our largest STEM Innovation Summer Program across 4 provinces.
• Commitment of 2-4 hours per week from April 2 - June 30, 2024.
• Various leadership positions available.

*Please note, that you must be available for the next 3 months if you commit to a position listed above. 

All volunteers on board for this project must be available to attend weekly team meetings on any ONE of the following days: 
- Thursday evenings 8 pm Eastern - 40 - 60 minutes, OR
 - Sunday evenings 8 pm Eastern - 40 - 60 minutes, OR
 - Wednesday afternoon 12 pm Eastern - 40 - 60 minutes
