HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER - STEM INNOVATION PROGRAM - Volunteer Role

Are you passionate about ensuring workplace safety and well-being? Join us as a Volunteer Health and Safety Manager to contribute to fostering a secure environment for our community.

The Stem Montessori Academy of Canada is a federally registered not-for-profit regional science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) program open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. The STEM program educates students from preschool to high school and is available to all children nationwide. SMAC specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Duties & Responsibilities:
•	Developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, including fire drills 
        and emergency plans.
•	Coordinating health and safety requirements for events and providing logistical 
        information.
•	Liaising with Human Resources to create comprehensive safety plans for 
        program locations.
•	Preparing health and safety reporting and training materials.
•	Managing the medical needs of programs and coordinating first aid stations.
•	Delivering ongoing health and safety training to volunteers and staff.
•	Investigating and evaluating requests for assistance and concerns regarding 
       working conditions.
•	Recommending first aid needs and requirements, and building first aid stations.
•	Performing other related duties as assigned.
 
Requirements:
•	Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
•	6+ months of experience in health and safety management or a related area.
•	Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clear 
        communication of safety protocols.
•	Excellent time management and organizational abilities to effectively implement 
        safety programs.
•	Availability to attend occasional Zoom meetings.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our biggest and most important STEM Innovation Summer Program to date, running across 4 provinces!
We need eager volunteers to help us plan, and execute this program. Whether you are a new volunteer or a past volunteer, we are reaching out to you to see if you have any time to lend. We need your help!

The volunteer requirement for this program is a commitment of at least 2-4 hours per week from April 2 - 15 and will last until June 30, 2024. We have a lot of exciting opportunities including team leadership, management, supervisory, and VP positions available for this project.
