SASHA, the St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association, was established in 2013 with the goal “to support, educate and empower those who are affected by or caring for a person with a life-limiting illness in our community”.

Our primary objective, at the outset, was to work with local leaders in government and health care to create a residential hospice space in St. Albert. We are thankful that this objective was reached in January 2016, with the opening of ten hospice beds in Foyer Lacombe. (See the St. Albert Gazette, dated May 06, 2017, for an article on SASHA!)

Now that the objective of established hospice has been achieved, our attention is focused on providing support in our community. To that end, we have initiated our Compassionate Care Volunteer Program and a Connect Cafe. Additionally, we work closely with the Covenant Care group to determine how we can best support and enrich the care in the Foyer Lacombe Hospice. We then approach our community in a variety of ways for funds to support these needs in the Hospice.

About SASHA
The St Albert and Sturgeon Hospice Association (SASHA) is a volunteer-run foundation. We came together in October 2013 as a grass roots organization and began an awareness campaign to seek support from the public, politicians, healthcare officials and community service groups. We became a registered society in 2014, and received charitable status from the Canada Revenue Agency in January 2015.

Vision Statement
