FUNCTION

Reporting to the Active Aging Volunteer Coordinator and Active Aging Assistant (on site), the Tournament Organizer and Facilitator volunteer will work as an integral part of the Silvera team. You will lead programming for residents through a model focused on the social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional vocational/environmental and physical well-being of residents. 

The Tournament Organizer and Facilitator Volunteer will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of programs such as crib tournaments, Silvera games, and other tournament programs.  The volunteer will specifically be providing residents with a physical, social and intellectual environment in which residents can enjoy playing a variety of games to compete against each other in each community and across the organization. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

•	Attend orientation with Active Aging Volunteer Coordinator, job shadow Active Aging Assistant
•	Promote program with individuals and groups to highlight benefits and encourage participation
•	Ensure adequate resources are in place for the program, including supplies and venue spaces
•	Evaluate programs through anecdotal observation and commentary from residents;
•	Support and mentor other internal and external program volunteers
•	Positive interaction with residents to reduce social isolation 
•	Participate in Silvera's Health and Safety program by effectively identifying potential hazards

QUALIFICATIONS

•	Demonstrates a passion for and experience working with seniors;
•	Demonstrates creativeness, enthusiasm and a positive, team-oriented attitude is essential;
•	Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, additional languages are an asset;
•	Well organized, creative and adaptable;

WORKING CONDITIONS

•	Must have own vehicle as occasional travel is required (if facilitating program within multiple communities)
•	Ability to work in varying work environments, both independently and as part of a high performing team.
•	Be flexible and have the ability to respond to a variety of changing duties and work routines.
	
HOURS OF WORK

•	Regularly scheduled shifts occur on business days as well as early evening and/or weekend shifts.
