The Campus Food Bank is seeking collaborative and values-based Directors to serve on its Board of Directors. The Board governs the affairs of the CFB, including the development of the organization’s long-term strategic vision. In the spirit of collegiality and cooperation, the Directors utilize their diverse perspectives to further the CFB’s mission of reducing food insecurity within the campus community, as well as provide opportunities for volunteers to develop leadership skills. The Board participates in deliberations and decisions in matters of policy, finance, personnel and advocacy.
The powers and duties of the Board include:
Responsibility for effective governance of the CFB.
Providing significant organizational direction to the Executive Director to align the organizational goals to the strategy.
Providing strategic insight to the Executive Director related to the CFB’s vision, priorities, effective use of resources and more.
Development of the CFB’s organizational plan and annual review.
Hiring and overseeing the performance of the Executive Director;
Establishing policies, rules and regulations for operating the Campus Food Bank and the use of its facilities and assets;
Serving on various CFB Committees, including policy and bylaw, finance, recruitment, strategic planning, etc.
Approving an annual budget and all contracts for the Campus Food Bank.
Maintaining and protecting the Campus Food Bank’s assets and property.
Appointing legal counsel as necessary.
Directors are expected to assist in developing and maintaining positive relations among the Board, committees, staff members and community to enhance the CFB’s mission. They are also encouraged to attend community and campus events on behalf of the CFB to promote the organization and network.
