Board Secretary - Membership Description
ChatterBox Theatre Society is a public non profit organization, incorporated in Alberta and located in Calgary South. The organization is dedicated to entertaining and educating young audiences and their families, based on an innovative theatrical concept, and offer support to local artists and communities of Calgary and Okotoks. Through our Mission, we are more than a theatre, as we are dedicated to delivering a meaningful theatrical experience to young audiences through interaction and humor, teaching children positive values and offering them support in their development stages, building a stronger community by encouraging public interaction and dialog, and nurturing and promoting our local artists.
With the organization at an early stage of development, we are looking to fill the Board Secretary position, volunteer role, that will offer the necessary support for the project. The Secretary will work closely with the President / CEO in the planning of board of directors and association meetings. The secretary of the board is responsible for:
•	The creation and timely distribution of agenda for Board meetings,
•	The accurate recording and distribution of the minutes of Board of Directors meetings,
•	Keep a record of the legal paperwork filled.
As a board member of ChatterBox Theatre Society, the Secretary’s other responsibilities include:
•	Watching over ChatterBox Theatre Society activity and ensuring the strategy and culture are respected at all times,
•	Increasing community involvement and promoting ChatterBox Theatre’ name,
•	Overseeing the financial administration of ChatterBox Theatre and reviewing financial reports,
•	Assisting the organization when needed. 
(During the year, the board of directors will offer continuing support to the organization and attend the following: Quarterly meetings, Special ad hoc meetings when necessary, and The Annual General Meeting: review the organization’s achievements: mission, strategy, budget and actual, fundraising, etc.)
